G'Day every one, my name is Steve Hobbs. I started working for JBA 5 years ago as their Financial Controller (Melbourne - Australia) but quickly made the jump to financials & ERP consulting. I loved my job and the great relationships I developed with my clients. I believe S21 is a great product, given it is implemented properly and supported by the right people. It must not be treated as a project or exercise but as a solution to problems and a mechanism for providing your enterprise information requirements. You must see the big picture and truley understand how all the components inter-twine and affect each other before jumping into it. Otherwise AFI will appear to stuff up when in fact it reflects poor planning and a lack of understanding. Back in the early days customers were happy and the JBAers were also happy and had no reason to leave. Rates were reasonable and there was little demand for third party consultants. But soon promises to staff were broken, rates to rise and then we have unhappy campers in both camps. Along came other ERP vendors who stole the top JBAers and left the not so marketable ones to earn the higher rates. Customers become further distressed and so the story goes on. GEAC have passed digging a big hole, they are now filling it in on themselves. Symix, a US based ERP and eCommerce vendor wanted me more than GEAC. The decision was easy. I'm treated like royalty and I'm happy. The customers are happy. We have a Manager of Customer satisfaction and he sleeps at night. Another ERP vendor - another planet. We have averaged 1 large ERP sale per month this year in Melb and also sold true internet based eCommerce to a JBA site as our eCommerce solution can be interfaced with a brand X ERP, such as S21. Many of my friends are FC's and alike I met at JBA customer sites. I have a keen interest in the direction and goings on of JBA/GEAC and hope they can get it right and soon. By the way, Jeff Klipe did well to bring wrkdbf (and edtdbf) to your attention. It was my preferred tool for reviewing and safely changing data. It's fast too. I hope not to see too many problems pop up in the forum, but if I think I can help I will respond.
