Charlie,

Sometimes these files, or a combination thereof, do become out of sync.
Usually due to a failed posting session, background subsystem failure or
screen failure. You should check the following:-

a) Status 'I' or 'F' sessions in A/R and A/P.
b) S/PLP15/20 with zero event (EVNT) number.
c) FLP007/8's with update number of -1.
d) FLP007/8's with update number of 0 (taking option 1/GLA will tell you
if you have any 0 FLP007's)
e) Any records in SLP76 (cash allocation work file).

The verification/rebuild utilities usually do a pretty food job of keeping
transaction and balance information in sync (watch the G/L balance rebuild
if over year end as it sometimes updates the Net Profit and/or Retained
Earnings incorrectly) but it will NOT update failed sessions.

The Financial systems are usually pretty good at keeping themselves in
balance. Do you have any custom software running that posts into the
Ledgers?

E-mail me through this list or off-line if I can be off any assistance.
Hope this gives you a place to start.

Regards,

Mark.
