New Article ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ITJungle has just published my new article "More on RPG Encapsulation": http://www.itjungle.com/fhg/fhg011205-story01.html It is a continuation of the first Encapsulation article and discusses additional techniques and recommendations. I think there are some handy Service Program tips for even those not interested in Encapsulation. As always, you can find a list of my published articles at: http://www.rpgnext.com/tutorials.php Also, last week I neglected to announce that I had a tip on using *NOPASS and *OMIT procedure parameters published: http://www.itjungle.com/fhg/fhg010505-story02.html Speaking of Encapsulation ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I am also using the new article to launch my new RPG Encapsulation site at http://www.rpgbeans.com. I'll be using that site to manage the "RPG Bean Creator" project, another free download built on the xRPG Core Library. I've discussed the beta here before, but allow me a quick recap: the tool will analyze a database file and generate an encapsulating source code member. The tool uses a template system so it is customizable. It even includes another command to create the Prototype /copy member! Unfortunately, as of now, it only generates SQLRPGLE, so you have to have the SQL Developerment Kit installed. And like RPGNext, you have to be at V5R1 in order to use it. The Next Article ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm working on a new article about using embedded SQL in free-format RPG, so if you have any specific questions regarding this topic now would be a great time to ask. And as always, I'm open to suggestions for article topics or questions in general. Until Next time, Happy Coding! Joel Cochran http://www.rpgnext.com http://www.rpgbeans.com
