The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

SQL statements can overflow many lines, but each line must fit within a
certain length for source members, which have a record length, and
SRCDTA length is 12 less than the record length. **free still has a
SRCDTA field and can use everything from position 1 to its length.
Fixed, columnar format is limited to 8 to 80 (is this true for source
files defined with record length of 112? I've never tried using a longer
source PF. Nor have I tried embedded SQL for ILE RPG in a 92-long source
PF.

I believe it refers to the length of the SQL statement which can overflow many lines. I have done this before. However, if you are using a source file member, you will be limited to the length of the SRCDTA field.
