Having standardized build (compile) commands helps keep your compiled
environment clean and standardized. One useful action is to have your
default H-spec options in a copy book, which you can then override on a
program-by-program basis.

I use commands with CL CPP's for all of my applications--the menu executes
the command, passes parameters into the CL, the CL calls the RPG, and into
the stack you go. RPG programs use ACTGRP(*CALLER) and my CL's use the CL
program name to the activation group name. A few programs run in *NEW;
that prevents recursion errors when the user is navigating inside a program
(order inquiry calls customer inquiry calls order inquiry, and trapping
RNX8888 is not a good design option). With one build command handling all
object generation (DDS, RPG, CL, SQL), object generation variations are
limited when you don't have a change management tool to handle compiling.

Don't forget your options for SQL service programs: I have other copy books
with CLOSQLCSR(*ENDMOD) and CLOSQLCSR(*ENDACTGRP).

I use a copy member containing all (necessary) H-Specs/Control Options.
But each of the keywords is conditioned by a compiler directive.
So, if necessary I can deactivate one (or even more) keywords and replace
them with the option I need (while all other keyword options stay as they
are).

The H-Specs include:
Binding directories, Activation Group, CCSID, CCSIDCvt, Debug, DecEdit,
DatEdit, Options(*NoDebugIO: *NoUnref), CopyRight, AlwNULL(*USRCTL),
ExtbinInt, ExprOpts, OpenOpt, STGMDL, ALLOC

Subject: Which H-specs CTL-OPT do you use?

Hi all

I would like to know how do you setup the H-Spec/Ctl-Opt in your RPG
programs : /copy o hardcoded spec H ?

And which Keyword do you include in your H-Spec/Ctl-Opt ??

In short how do you manage H-Spec/Ctl-Opt in you rpg programs ?

Thanks in advance

Gio
