Ah! The I confused this somehow with handling of strings with record I/O
in C on IBM i. This needs conversion from <=> to C-strings.


Yep, null termination of strings is a C/C++ thing..

Db2, ILE RPG, ILE COBOL and everything else I can think of, on and off the
IBM i, store a length. :)
