Hey, are any of you all using remote SQL in your rpg like this: select * from system.library.file ?
I have a question on security.
It seems that you have to connect with the connect statement if your WRKRDBDIRE entry has: Preferred method: *USRIDPWD or *USRENCPWD.
If this is the case it would appear I have to use the CONNECT statement before I can do any triplets in my SQL to the remote system.
But once connected to the remote system it would appear I can't do triplets back to my local system.
It all works great if I lower the minimum security requirement to *USRID on my WRKRDBDIRE and CHGTCPDDM server settings because I can just run SQL triplets without additional authentication with password.
I am new at using SQL triplets between systems. Overall pretty easy, but curious on the security side.
Also using *IP not *SNA.
Thoughts or experiences ?
Regards,
Richard Schoen
