One thing about having the wait loop in the RPG code is
that it is very clear what is going on.

Nothing that a comment re the WAITRCD override just before the CHAIN
wouldn't cure!

Any function that the system can provide seems to be more foolproof than
looping logic that sleeps and retries a CHAIN.

What I have discerned from the responses so far is that there is no
functional advantage with retrying a CHAIN multiple times with an 800
second limit vs. overriding with WAITRCD(800) and eliminating the
retry-loop logic. I welcome reasoned disagreement.
