I've got it figured out. set up OAuth 2.0 with many hosts now. I just
don't like it when they require a callback to exchange a code for a token.

Oh. OAuth. Ouch.

I vaguely recall dealing with OAuth, many years ago. To say it wasn't
pleasant would be putting it mildly. And yes, whatever web service
provider I was attempting to work with at the time didn't seem to get
the concept of anything other than a desktop program or a webapp calling
a web service.
