Hi Tim,
I hope I got everything right.

Thanks, after careful observation i found i's coming on below statement:-
fld1 = 'Sum: ' + %trim(%editw(fld3:' 0 '))
whereas fld3 is defined in the program like this :-
d fld3 s 5s 0
So far, everything looks fine with fld3 - ok the edit word seems to be
longer than the variable, but that shouldn't be a problem.
I want this fld1 of the display file to be numeric of length 10 but notsure which data type i should select out of the available options in it's
DDS so that this error could be resolved or this fld3 should be defined
differently here ?
The definition in the DDS seems to be numeric - but you cannot assign a
value like
'Sum: ' + %trim(...
to a numeric display file field. That value is a string - you can't assign
it to a numeric field.
The correct data type in DDS would be "10Y 0" - data type Y would enable
you to use EDTCDE or EDTWRD key words with that field. You could also use
"10S 0", but that does not support the editing keywords.
HTH
