Is there nothing in the documentation to tell you the standard that is being used for the authentication? I can't believe that IBM invented their own just for this purpose.

It will be the settings on the MQ server that determine exactly what is required - have you asked the folks who manage the server?

A) Birgitta answered one of my messages. <blush>
B) Maybe an answer to my problem. I'm having success putting and getting messages, just not signing them; however SQL would certainly be a preferred method.

My big issue issue is that in the long term, I can only install the client. I cannot find a way to install any of these additional features--advanced message security (AMS) and DB2 MQ functions seem to only be available if the server is installed.

Anyone know the right client products and options for these?

Not sure if it helps, but had you have a look at the MQ-(SQL)Services?
So it should be (relatively) easy to handle MQ with embedded SQL

Subject: IBM MQ Message Signing

I'm working on a project where I have to communicate with a 3rd party using IBM MQ. My shop will be the client putting and getting messages from a remote MQ server. We will be connected to the remote queues via a secured network but are also required to asymmetrically sign outgoing messages and verify signed incoming messages.

As an experienced RPG programmer and amateur Java programmer, I have been attempting to do this with RPG. I have been having differing levels of success. I can send messages but have been unable to determine how to sign them. I've read information that implies it's simply a configuration issue. I've read about exit programs. I've read that it's a matter of changing my security data structure.

We do not have a license for the MQ server so I'm running a test server on one of our IBM i machines and a client on another. Can anyone provide any direction or a link to a decent set of RPG MQ samples? IBM's MQ documentation is extensive and sometimes very helpful but it tries to cover all bases (Java/RPG/C/AIX/zOS) in one set of instructions and is often confusing.

Any help would be immensely appreciated.
