That's what I came to in another post - now this is analogous to trying to left-justify something with leading blanks - EVAL won't do that by itself, you have to %trim the value first


Maybe I just had %trimr in there as a given for fixed-length variables, don't know now!

That was exactly my point in constructing the example: if you don't trim
off any trailing blanks, then EVALR is not going to quad it all the way
to the right.
