I went down the list of 91 columns one by one to check for whether it might result in nulls, and I did find one, so thanks for that, Glenn!

However, I'm still getting the same message

SQL5011  30    3137  Position 58 Host structure array MX not defined or not usable. Reason: Elements of the host structure array are  not contiguous.

I don't think so, I've used the same exact code with the same (almost exact, I think) list of fields from a bunch of different files in the View.

But that's a good lead and I'm going to check it out. I have a practice of always using clauses in the column list that turn nulls into zeros or blanks. Maybe I missed one or changed something in trying to make the program work properly. The programmer that developed this just used almost all DCL-F specs and put lots of code matching things up. I've rolled a huge chunk of that code into this View.

Now that makes all kinds of sense (not!!) because MX is an externally described data-structure array:        DCL-DS MX Likeds(MT) dim(5000) inz  ;
