This is interesting.

What does it mean for an IBM i job to complete "normally"? Does that
mean there were no unmonitored escape messages? Or does it mean there
were no messages that met or exceeded the job's end severity
threshold?

I ask because JVA0122 is severity 0.

Also, I don't know how to interpret PTF cover letters or APAR
descriptions, but I am wondering if it has something to do with this:

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ptf/SI51506

A little more Googling turns up several results that seem to suggest
that JVA0122 used to be a job-stopper. For example,

https://stackoverflow.com/q/46116806/95852

Which leads me to imagine the following narrative:

VENDOR: Hey, we're getting JVA0122 messages, and it's scaring our
users/clients; can something be done about that? [Filed as APAR
SE57372]

IBM: Sure, we'll make JVA0122 severity 0. Problem solved, everyone
is happy! [Issued as PTF SI51506]
