We have a Java program that runs under WRKJOBSCDE using the RUNJVA
command. It basically reads a DB2 table containing a list of files and
sends those files to a remote server.
There are times when the remote server is down, and the job produces a
printout, but has a Job Ending code of zero, even though the job wasn't
really complete. There is a small printout within the job that can show it
failed, but the system views the run as successful.
I was thinking of writing a small RPG wrapper that will run the Java
program in hopes I can call the Java with something like a CALLP(e)
javapgm();
and monitor the success of the Java program that way [using %error]. But,
I am not sure if that will work since Java is not seeming to really report
an error.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I would accomplish this? Ideally, if the
Java program fails, I would like the system to try again after waiting 10
minutes.
I don't want to reinvent the world here, but would like to know if anyone
else has done something like this successfully.
Thank you,
Doug
