That was my problem... The example provided contain that as part of the select statement.

I'm using SQL to load my Data Structure and YAJLDTAGEN to create the IFS file(s).

For now, I really like that approach.

Thank you all! Once again, I've learned something I may need in the future.

The "IFS-Functions" are IFS Stored Procedures and cannot be included in a
SELECT Statement.
They have to be called with an SQL CALL Statement (that's why I showed the
LOB-File Solution):

Call Qsys2.IFS_WRITE(Path_Name => '/DIR/DIR2/IFS.json', Line => 'SELECT
...', File_Ccsid => 1208, Overwrite => 'REPLACE');
