When I dealt with this same thing a while back it seemed the culprit was I-specs.

Btw, on the cleanup side, which I’m sure you’ll kea d to the customer, there is a real simple sql statement you can run the detect the affected rows. And we had a 3-4 line rpg pgm
we would run to clean the file.
Let me know if any interested and I’ll see if I can’t find those for you.
