Brad, the output you get with previous instructions will let you see the
full output as if it is the spool file we usually get after compilation
process completed. Is is more or like the same. You won't need anything
else.

Source file must be saved before compilation process take place. So,
Ctrl-S + Ctrl-E >is< the easiest way to do it.

Did you manage to see the output? I forgot nothing can be attach to the
email, so I can have you see it in some other way.

Thanks for the tips! So, no way to see the compiled source spooled file I
assume. I don't even see it creating it. I imagine that may be something
on the CRTxxxxx command that I can change. But then again I don't see any
way to view spooled files.

The output command does help!

I'm getting used to Ctl-S, Ctl-E, [enter] to save and compile. There's
probably an easier way.. :)

Hi Brad,

For you to see the output you first must open a terminal from within VSC
then click the "Output tab" then choose "IBMi Output" from the dropdown
on
the right. Hope the following image helps.

The output doesn't have a corresponding spool file, anyway it holds
everything to easily find out what's happened. Ctrl-F (or Cmd-F) here
smoothly help you to get to any specific line number.

I don't know how ILEditor works, but Liam is doing a lot to add functions
to this extension.

A tip? I love having the same source file opened twice (or more) side by
side so that I can make changes on different lines without rolling up and
down no matter which one I made the changes on.

Hey, all.

I decided to give Visual Studio Code a try with the Code for IBM i
extension. Pretty nice!

Questions:

1. Where do compile spooled files get put?
2. Is there any way to view the spooled files/compiles like in
ILEditor
where you could match up errors with line numbers?

Any other tips/addons?
