using the TABLE(QSYS2.JOBLOG_INFO('*')) function.
I want to return the MESSAGE_KEY.

D wMsgKey s 4b 0
exec sql
select MESSAGE_KEY into :wMsgKey
from TABLE(QSYS2.JOBLOG_INFO('*'))
where MESSAGE_TYPE = 'COMPLETION'
ORDER BY ORDINAL_POSITION DESC
FETCH FIRST 1 ROWS ONLY;

on compile I get : SQL0303 Variable WMSGKEY not compatible or value too
long.

Check out https://ibm.co/3aeHq1y

You'll need to declare the variable with a SQLTYPE keyword.

dcl-s wMsgKey SQLTYPE(BINARY:4);

That's just a guess at the syntax though.
