Hi Paul
IMO the MDT flag is not on because the data in the field did not change
from zero, so it is working as expected.
Because the screen is loaded from a file the file and screen data are
both zero, nothing has been modified.
Not sure why you use MDT at all if you need ALL fields to be set MDT on,
you may as well not bother with MTD checking.

I have an issue with a display file using Modified Data Tags. It is on astandard record screen, not a subfile. Each field in a specific column has
the MDT attribute set to Y. I have an F-key process that loads the fields
in this column from a file. The problem is when the field value is zero in
the file, the MDT flag is not turned on when the field is updated with a
zero. Is there a way to force the MDT flag when this automated process
loads the field values?
TIA,
Paul
