Yes I'm using yajl_tree_free() but this makes no difference to the
pointers in my program. I'm guessing this just frees the memory used by the
*srvpgm

OP, are you using yajl_tree_free() after building and/or parsing your
JSON?
If so, you shouldn't have to worry about pointers.
