You can find the RRN in the Database Specific Feedback Information of the INFDS. See this page

It is for 7.2 but may also be available on earlier releases. There is an example in figure 2 which I'm sure you can translate back to RPG/400.

Does this help? It may add some overhead to your program getting the extra info.
