Thanks for all the replies.

- Commitment control
We do not currently nor intend in the future to use commitment control
- Backup and recovery implications
This is really the only issue I see as a concern.
- Library authorities
Library authorities for FILLIB and PGMLIB are the same so I don't see
this as an issue.

If I understand correctly the issue with backup would be that when the data
library is saved the trigger program is not saved. This could potentially
lead to an issue if the program were changed in PGMLIB after the save of
FILLIB and then FILLIB was restored.

Another issue at restore time is if PGMLIB (or the trigger program) do not
exist.

Are my concerns correct?

Thanks,

Rob

I have put the trigger programs in the same library as the file they are
connected with. It makes it easier when doing restores so you don't have
to panic about the programs being elsewhere.

Hi All,

The standard in our shop is that files/tables go in FILLIB and programs
go
in PGMLIB.
My requirement is to create a trigger (RPG) program and I'm undecided as
to
which library to put the program in.

IBM recommends the data library (

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_73/dbp/rbaforzahftrg.htm
)
but this goes against our shop standard. The document suggests the file
library but I can't find any documentation as to why the file library.

Is there any reason I shouldn't/can't use PGMLIB?

Thanks,

Rob
