I want to work with a (SQL) table without primary key to be viewed in a load-paged subfile. The table is fed with data from an external source. (Changes are rather costly, so I won't go that way. Identity fields are not possible because my OS/400 release doesn't support that.)
In the RPG manuals, I found the definition where I can find the current RRN:
DFINFDS DS
D TBLRRN 397 400I 0
To have direct access to the records, I want to save the RRN of given records in a hidden field in the SFL of the display file:
A TBLRRN 4Y 0H
The compiler complains, that the field lengths aren't matching. The error persists if I reduce the length to three positions in the display file.
Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. So I ask kindly for enlightenment. :-)
