What you are doing appears to be absolutely correct and should work the way
you expect it to. I tried a similar test on both 7.3 and 7.4 and it worked
great. If no one else identifies a problem, I would suggest opening a
support ticket.

Does anyone know the correct way to make Embedded SQL DELETE statements
only
delete a number of rows?
DUPS = 5 BUT, THE DELETE STATEMENT DELETES ALL 6 ROWS

EXEC SQL
DELETE TIMSFILE
WHERE ALXXX = :ALXXX
FETCH FIRST ROW ONLY ;

Same result- all 6 rows get deleted instead of just 1.
OR
FETCH FIRST DUPS ROWS;
