The JDBC connection is successfully established immediately before the
failing JDBC_SetAutoCommit(), so that seems like I longshot, but I'll check.

Justin,

That looks like the network took a hit and the residual was the Java event.
Have you checked with the network folks for any outage/upgrade/change
between the IBM i and your SQL Server?
