I prefer QMQRY (Query Manager) myself: best of both worlds.

I’ve worked with the 400 for three years.
I’ve never used WRKQRY.

The WRKQRY command. The command that you bring up to get the standard
QUERY on files. Not the STRSQL where you have to be more proficient with
SQL.
Someone should point out that WRKQRY and SQL are not mutually exclusive.
Isn't the first step with WRKQRY to select a file? Well, that file can be
an SQL view.
So the first step might be to create an SQL view. Then select that view in
WRKQRY.
In other words, use WRKQRY for generating spool files. But use SQL for
joining files and cases where built-in functions assist with concatenating,
trimming, and such.
