Darryl,

What is that bug you mention? Downgrading to OPM seems like a horrible way out.

I have had to downgrade an ILE RPG program to OPM. Reason - there is a bug
in the OS that I and IBM have been in a tug of war over.

In the DSPF, I have a field ORDER_STS. In the RPG (OPM) I declared the DSPF
and renamed the record formats to be 6 characters long. I have renamed the
fields that are longer than 6 characters using the i-spec rename option.
ORDERSTS is rename d to ORDSTS. So far so good.

I have 1 issue. One field ORDER_STS is generating a QRG4033 error -
"External name specified for Rename option is not valid".

I cannot identify what the compiler does not like about this field. The
record format name is correct. There are other fields longer than 6
characters that I have used and successfully renamed.

I was not able to find much on QRG4033.

I do not want to duplicate the file and thereby rename all fields to be 6
characters or less. I am hoping I can continue to use the DSPF as is. It is
used by other ILE programs.

Can someone assist with a pointer as to what I could look at to resolve this
field?

TIA
