Sometimes a particular web service is quite snappy, other times it can be a significant wait time.  The rest of the world has an hourglass, we got nothing.  Yes, I know, we need to burn everything down and move on but I am old, stubborn, and cranky.

Anyway, what I'd like to do and can't figure out what I am doing wrong is this...

1. prepare the request for the web service,
2. display a message by doing a WRITE to the message window format
saying "Retrieving data",
3. send to the web service,
4. receive & process the web service response,
5. do an EXFMT to the message window format with the results.

What debug is showing me is that the "Retrieving data" window is being populated but does not display, and then when the web service responds, the repopulation of the message field does not happen, but the exfmt does happen.

The code looks like this:

  W3MSG = 'Retrieving data'; write WINDOW3;   exsr getWebServiceData; W3MSG = REPLY;   exfmt WINDOW3;

(debug shows REPLY as properly filled.)
