Yes, you can just replace the old YAJL code with the new one. (Assuming you haven't made your own modifications.)

I don't have any tool similar to YAJLGEN for XML.   It would be a little more difficult to write since JSON has characters that denote a data structure or array, XML does not.  Still, it'd be possible to write one for XML if you wanted to do so.  I have no plans to work on something like this as I never use XML anymore...
