You can either check the SQLSTATE afterwards, or add an indicator variable to your INTO: clause (https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_73/rzajp/rzajpindvar.htm).

In sql scripts, I have used IFNULL, however, IFNULL is not usable in a RPG program.



This is a 7.2 system.
