The example of mine that you linked uses a single procedure to achieve a three key sort.

You basically need one procedure for each desired key sequence.

If you have two keys the worst case scenario is 2 procedures, A in B, and B in A. Unless you also need A only and B only. That would be four procedures but could be achieved by just two and short circuit logic when a single key was needed.

But realistically you probably never need all possible combinations because many seances would be meaningless. For example Phone number in Name in State is pretty useless I would think.

Trying to get my head around qsort. Looks promising, and people I respect say it's the right answer.

Here is my practice piece:

* 2-columns (State & City)
o sort by State, up or down
o sort by City, up or down
* always maintain the original order of the "other" column.

That looks to me like I'll want _8_ procedures? 3 columns would need _16_ procedures? Methinks I have badly misunderstood something and best stop and ask questions.

(I am using Jon's quite clear article as a learning guide. qsort: A Better SORTA <https://www.itjungle.com/2012/01/25/fhg012512-story02/> )
