but in actual it's not happening please see below link in which i have
tried to use AES 128 algorithm in which there is a field called '
*encodedexchangetoken' * when I am trying to supply it exact fit length 88
it works pretty well and the moment i try to make it's length let's say 500
then substring blanks from it. it does not work at all and same happens
when i try to get it's decrypted value in field outrec that field also have
some junk value after decrypted value that i want to remove but it's even
not blank but something else so i am unable to remove those extra unwanted
value from decrypted value it's also not possible because program is unable
to distinguish when the decrypted value is ending and when the unwanted
value is beginning secondly i wanted to write it in some flat file as code
to write in XML is faling currently using qcmdexc it's also failing due to
reasons unknown yet.
please refer below link for my program code that tries to scan blanks and
then tries to remove those blanks from encodedexchangetoken and outrec
fields.

when we debug it shows value of v1 as 'RISHIBBBB'

So neither trim nor trimr even substring also does not seem to work as
it
shows substring value as 'RISHIBBBBB'

Note that if you look at the storage for the variable-length
variable there might be blanks (or other remnants) on the end -- but that
is just the storage. The length of a variable-length variable is in the 2
(or 4) bytes preceding the data area. That length will be 5. Then,
whenever you use that variable-length variable RPG will only look at the
characters specified by that length prefix. The remainder will be
ignored.

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
