That's correct. In principle, RPG's SELECT and ELSEIF are the same
thing. The most straightforward way (given RPG's history) would be for
the parser to convert ELSEIFs to SELECTs, and then the compiler would
just produce the same code for both. I don't know if that is actually
what happens, though. Even if they are implemented separately, it is
hard for me to imagine that they wouldn't have simply reproduced the
logic. If there is any performance difference AT ALL, it means that
the implementers missed an opportunity for easy optimization
*somewhere*.
