Absolutely CSV is another use.

I can't think of another programming language that doesn't offer this. That being said, you're absolutely right that I shouldn't hold my breathe. The RFE is from 2017.

Seems like something you could easily write yourself and add to your ILE function toolset.

I wrote %scanrpl years before IBM did out of necessity. But now I use theirs as I update things as I'm sure it's faster than mine.. :)

Also, Nathan's idea is also a good one as far as the structure of the BIF.

All these BIF ideas would be a great ILE/RPG open source project for those so inclined. I don't know if I'd rely on IBM for everything. They normally do eventually come around and add things that are popular, as shown over the years.
