Booth,

If you haven't debugged in RDi before you may want to look under
Preferences:
Run/Debug | IBM i Debug

and check *Update production files*

Use an object filter in RSE or the Object Table view to show the service
program ( in the correct library ) you want to debug.

Right Click and select Debug or Code Coverage ( Service Entry ) | Set
Service Entry Point

This may prompt you to start the debug server if it is not already running.

This will set a Service Entry Point for YOUR user profile.
You will need to change this to specify the user profile that your web
server will run under, on ours it's either QTMHHTP1 or QTMHHTPP, I forget
off the top of my head.

You can do this by right clicking on the Service Program in the IBM i
Service Entry Points view which opens when you Set the Service Entry Point,
select Modify from the dialog box and specifiying the correct user for your
web service.

Next time that service program gets called it should kick into RDi and
prompt you to go to the Debug Perspective.

regards,
Craig

I've gone one bridge too far for my brain. I can not figure out where
or how to start.

Here is the layout: I have a web service (IWS) supplying json data to
an HTML/JavaScript project that is working quite well. The IWS web
service is getting the data from an SQLRPGLE program that is first
compiled as a SRVPGM, then again with CRTPGM module.

Every once in a while something happens in the service program and the
only fix I can figure out is to stop and restart the IWS server. At
this point I am in over my head and I don't know how to proceed. RDi is
at 9.6.

Is there a tutorial on using the RDi debugger on a service program
called by IWS? Is that even the right direction to go?
