I don’t think you are allowed to use the "exec sql execute Stmt1 into :wField..." into part of the statement with the "execute" statement.

You have several other options but if the statement is that simple just use,

exec sql select AFIELD into :wField from aMachine/aLibrary/aFile where rrn(aFile) = :wSeed:

Prepare is best suited for statements that need to be dynamically built because their structure changes, mainly in the WHERE clause.
