... what you are calling RLA is better known outside the RPG-Ghetto as ISAM (Index sequntial access mode). It might be simple for simple problems, but it comes to its limitations, if you would have to lock more than one record of the same table (e.g.: stook rebooking). The Commit aproach with SQL or without is by far more flexible.
