countprefix provides the _prefix_ for the name of the item you want counted. There is nothing called count in your DS. You probably wanted num_transactions.

I would also advise against _ever_ using allowmissing=yes. The whole file could be "empty" and JSON-INTO would go "Yup - looks good to me"! Never a good idea. If there are optional elements the use the prefix for them too. e.g. if transaction_type was optional then adding num_transaction_type would allow you to check if it was present or not.

I have the following json ds & the data-into

Dcl-ds result qualified;
success ind;
num_count int(10);
Dcl-ds transactions dim(500);
transaction_id varchar(20);
transaction_type varchar(20);
amount packed(10:2);
Dcl-ds billing_address;
name varchar(80);
End-ds;
Dcl-ds created;
at varchar(25);
by varchar(40);
End-ds;
End-ds;
End-ds;

Clear result;
data-into result %Data(outFile
:'doc=file case=any allowmissing=yes -
allowextra=yes countprefix=num_')
%PARSER('YAJLINTO');

I then check result.num_count > 0;
but it comes back as 0, yet there are 17 transactions.

I do a similar check in another program & the result.num_count works.

I am missing something, but I don't see it :-(
