I thought validate_harpoon had been deprecated.

Darryl,

First of all, for legacy reasons, RPG will only return the first 10
characters of a subprocedure name in a message like this. So it doesn't
mean that a subprocedure named VALIDATE_H failed, but rather any routine
that BEGINS WITH validate_h... so it could be validate_harpoon or
validate_harpsicord or anything else that begins with "validate_h".

Second, all the message means is that an error occurred in your
subprocedure. To find out WHAT error occurred, look at the prior messages
in the job log.

I did take a quick look at HSSFR4, but there are no routines that start
with the word "validate". I'm guessing, therefore, that this is your own
subprocedure?

Help please.

I have been using the POI36 Java classes to read XLSX files for some
time.
Today I am getting an error in the VALIDATE_H sub procedure:

Message ID . . . . . . : RNQ0202 Severity . . . . . . . : 99

Message type . . . . . : Inquiry

Date sent . . . . . . : 18/06/08 Time sent . . . . . . :

Message . . . . : The call to VALIDATE_H ended in error (C G D F).

Cause . . . . . : RPG procedure HTS_XLSXI1 in program
DFREINKEL/HTS_XLSXI1

at statement 023900 called program or procedure VALIDATE_H, which
ended
in

error. If the name is *N, the call was a bound call by procedure
pointer.

Recovery . . . : Check the job log for more information on the
cause of
the

error and contact the person responsible for program maintenance.

Possible choices for replying to message . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
:

D -- Obtain RPG formatted dump.

S -- Obtain system dump.

G -- Continue processing at *GETIN.

C -- Cancel.

I cannot track down where the error is. I tried dumping the job but it
does
not write out the JAVA variables and there are no values in error in the
RPG
program.

Any suggestions on what to do?

TIA
