Off the top of my head, did you try this, Booth?

dcl-ds myDS extname('MYFILE') qualified dim(1000);
  myExtraField char(10);
end-ds;

This is just me spitballing, don't have the time to try it out just yet, but I THOUGHT that any fields you defined in an externally described data structure wnet to the end, so this would be the "common sense" answer to me.

I have a 1000 element array with 150 fields.  It is defined like an existing data file and so is one line of D-spec code.

I need to add one more field to the array.  At first that seemed simple enough but it is escaping me now that I am into it.
