So Barbara, given the fact that the rpg pgm is indeed using the same key
field that the opnqryf specifies, do you see anything in my ovrdbf/opnqryf
commands that would prevent a chain from successfully finding the record?

Actually, OPNQRYF overrides aren't picked up by the compilers. You have to
create a file for compile-time with the same keys as the OPNQRYF will use.
