Is there anyplace to look (hopefully a system catalog file) that can
tell
me if a LF object is a joined LF or not?

There may be another way, but since joined logical files are
normally not updateable (i.e., without an exit routine), then the
following should get you there.

Select SYSTEM_TABLE_NAME, TABLE_TYPE, FILE_TYPE
, IS_INSERTABLE_INTO, ENABLED, MAINTENANCE
, ISOLATION, CONTROL
from QSYS2/SYSTABLES
where TABLE_TYPE in ('L','V')
and IS_INSERTABLE_INTO = 'NO'
Order by SYSTEM_TABLE_NAME;

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
