Re: **free optional??

**FREE means you can start using column 1 and use out to length of record
for source instead of column 80.

If you tired to put something into columns 1 to 7 and expected it to
compile without the **FREE it would fail.

You can still start at column 7 even with **FREE. or use a comment in
column 6.
