Never use zoned or packed number for any kind of scan or counters. Always
use an integer
dcl-s pos1 Zoned(1:0) Dim(20);
dcl-s pos2 Zoned(2:0) Dim(20);
Should be
dcl-s pos1 Int(5) Dim(20);
dcl-s pos2 Int(5) Dim(20);
This will also fix you lookup problem as indicated by John.
