I'm before there where anything such a computer degree so there was the
basic education IBM offered their employees
and after that it was more or less learning by doing ;-)

If you got a proper computer science education, with Compiler
Construction a required course (with C or better required for your degree),
and that course was taught properly, without involving cheats with bovine
names like YACC or BISON, then you know how to write a Recursive Descent
Parser. And you can write a Recursive Descent Parser parse anything.
