I haven't tried this, but maybe something like this ...

1. Code the workstation file as USROPN
2. Add an INFDS to the workstation file.
3. Put a MONITOR / ON-ERROR block around the workstation OPEN.
4. If there is an error when you open, check the INFDS information to determine if the size is wrong.
