I have a varchar field in a database, and I need to pass that field as a
pointer,
however the receiving routine doesn't like receiving the first 2 bytes that
is the length of the string...
currently I am reading the record, then moving the variable length field to
a fixed length field, and then setting a pointer over the fixed length
field...

I am sure there is a proper way to pass the value of the variable length
field as a pointer, is there?
