Yes I know Scott but I figured he could probably work it out from the examples that do exist.
I should probably also have referenced your YAJL stuff but figured he’d figure that out.

Jon,
None of my examples for web services use YAJL, unfortunately. The YAJL presentation covers YAJL, but not really web services :-) Its a chicken-and-egg problem, I don't have time to teach both in one session, and I can never assume people in the YAJL session are already familiar with web services, or the people in the web services session are familiar with YAJL.
What I really should do (if I had time and wasn't so burned out) is write an article about it and put it on my web site. Sigh.

Since you are _supplying_ the service (as opposed to consuming it) there really would be little point in using OA. Think of it as a way for an RPG program to easily access functionality via conventional opcodes that would otherwise require API calls (such as YAJL, CGIDEV2, or HTTPAPI).--
In other words, to make it easier for less enlightened programmers to easily use the wonderful features that you supply.
Assuming that you don’t want to get into using PHP or node.js or … anything except RPG in this project then your simple choices are a CGI type approach as mentioned earlier or the built-in wizards for the app server. Some of Scott’s examples in his seminar on web services show you how to do this booth ways. The biggest difference is that with the wizard you don’t really get to control the complete response, with a CGI approach you’re in complete control. Whether that matters or not only you can decide.

Jon,
Before, I could not get nested arrays working with web services wizard. Now I got it working.
So now we are down to which way is the fastest and easiest to maintain. We have 50 API and add about 3 to 4 a month.
You kind of talked me out on using your open access :)

John,
My OA template is generic - there is really nothing web service specific that I could add.
I have published one example that consumes a web service - it uses Scott’s HTTPAPI under the covers to handle the web service interaction. That is also referenced in my OA session.
Consider for a moment that one way to supply a web service is via HTTP. In my session I showed how a handler can be written that (in my case) interfaces with CGIDEV2 to handle the web side. The same principal could be applied to web services.
You don’t say what kind of web services you intend to supply (REST vs SOAP for example) - don’t forget that the web services wizard can also be used to provide these services from conventional RPG programs.

I will using Scotts JSON API's.
