Thanks, I'll try that. That will be a lot less code than
building
my own parameter list address array. I'll have to wrap it in my own
procedure call, though, so I can use it as a condition in an IF
statement.

Hmmm... I just realized that's not going to work. If I wrap the
call to CEETSTA in a subprocedure then the parameter list CEETSTA will be
looking at is the parameter list for my subprocedure rather than the
parameter list for the original program. I guess that means I would have
to actually pass the parameter in question to the subprocedure but then I
am back to where I started -- the inability to reference a parameter by
number.
